Cassie Huang
Visual Communicator
You are:
My name is Kexin Huang. The "K" in "Kexin" is pronounced as in "key," and the "x" is pronounced like "sh" in "shoe." The "H" in "Huang" is pronounced softly, like a breath of air, and the "ng" is pronounced as in the word "sing." But if all things fails, I go by Cassie.
Hmmm, so Cassie, Where do you come from?
I was originally born in Anhui, China, then moved to Shanghai when I was 6; moved to Atlanta, Georgia when I was 15; moved to East Lansing, Michigan when I was 18; moved to Washington DC when I was 22. So I believe that my experiences and the places I have been shaped who I am far more than my nationality ever could. But... my citizenship is China and I am currently live in Virginia.
A Bit More About Me
Believe it or not, my journey into the world of journalism began in second grade when my teacher sent me to a 'journalism bootcamp' where I rocked a red reporter vest and honed my skills in writing, interviewing, and newspaper design. And while I've since retired the vest (mostly), those skills have stayed with me throughout the years. I'm still on the hunt for the latest scoop, still jotting down notes, and still designing pages for fun.
What gives me energy and hope is listening to others stories and help others. I am mission driven, self-motivated, visual communicator who is eager to help people communicate informatively through cutting edge visual technology. As I progressed through my education, I continued to pursue my passion for journalism. I majored in communications in Masters Degrees and interned at various media outlets, including an academic research center, a start up consulting firms and a newsroom. These experiences gave me a firsthand understanding of the importance of accurate and timely reporting, as well as the power of storytelling.
At my spare time, you can find me binge watching Friends. Other times, I'll be geeking out over the latest VR headsets or traveling to new places to explore different cultures and delicious food.
