01
Task
As part of my Newspaper Layout projects, I had the opportunity to work on a particularly significant assignment in 2019, during the time of the democratic debate and the Lions and Squanter games. Drawing inspiration from AP styles analysis on the 4th Debate and the layout of the Los Angeles Times newspaper, I took on the challenge of visually representing this historical event through an organized and captivating layout.
02
Design
Drawing on AP headshots as a source and averaging polls after the onstage debate, I extracted each headshot and assigned ratings to reflect the level of support for each candidate. To ensure clarity for the audience, I made the size of the headshots correspond to the level of support, making it visually noticeable. However, following initial interviews with the audience, I decided to address any potential bias by changing the headshot size to match the numerical values displayed beneath each candidate's headshot.

Result
By incorporating these changes, I aimed to strike a balance between capturing the audience's attention with an aesthetically appealing layout and ensuring an unbiased portrayal of the candidates' support levels. Through thoughtful design and meticulous attention to detail, I was able to create a visually captivating layout that resonated with the audience and effectively conveyed the historical significance of this momentous event.
